Over the past 10 years, street photographer Patrick Barr — aka Tiger Hood — has become a local legend while developing his unique variation of golf on the asphalt of New York City. Having sprung from a conversation between Barr and the African American artist Drahuws, this new Black culture artwork captures the power of imaginative street culture.
The “street golfer” Tiger Hood has popularized consists of a golf club, a newspaper-stuffed milk carton, and a crate. It started as just a way for Barr to pass some time but has gone onto to gain the attention of major news outlets.
But it’s Barr’s authentic spirit, style, and unique charm — embodied by his alter ego Tiger Hood — that’s been captured with this new hip-hop art print. As a whole, it’s not only representing the vibrant non-traditional Black art scene of New York City, but also Barr’s Jamaican roots that are an inherent aspect of how a seemingly ordinary — but passionate — figure had a moment of inspiration that eventually turned him into a pop art character.
